SHOPKIN'S SEASONS BIRTHDAY

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

I had no idea what Shopkins Seasons was until this birthday.  Apparently its the biggest scam to spend ridiculous amounts of money on teeny-tiny little plastic figurines of food that have cool names - like:  Donna Donut or Kooky Cookie or Lemmy Lemonade.  Seriously.  Why cant I come up with an idea like this???  It has no purpose and there is nothing you can do with them ....  except want more.  AND the big kicker is each SEASON there is a whole new release of new teeny tiny figures you must purchase to add to your collection.    Anyhow, enjoy the birthday party pics!  It was the most successful birthday party we have had to date actually. So I'm gonna go ahead and count it as a WIN.

I have no idea what or who this is but she is the main thing in the whole Shopkins Seasons Phenomenon.  And the cake looked exactly like the picture Rose picked out for the Birthday Cake so its another WIN.

As part of her birthday, Rose collected canned goods.  It was not her idea of a great birthday gift but she finally came around to the idea.  I want her to understand that its not all about "what you get? how much you get?  who gives you the best gift?"  but more about giving.  I am learning as a mother that it is extremely hard to teach your children to be grateful.  Part of it is my fault.  Part of it is society.  If Rose asks for a new swimsuit or a pair of shoes then I buy them for her.  I am not one to allow her to buy a toy every time we go in Wal Mart, but I probably do allow her to pick out and voice an opinion too much.
Lately her big thing is to tell me "She is not having a good day."  I want to lose my temper when she utters those few little words.  Rose Hardin you have the world at your fingertips.  You have a mom and a dad more willing to eat dirt for dinner so you can take gymnastic and go to the church to play all day than any parents I know.  Children with cancer have bad days.  Starving kids in Africa have bad days.  Rose Hardin does not have bad days.....  So this is where my retaliation causes a new-to-be 4 year old to haul in about 50 cans of food to the local pantry.  Mark says that it is too much for a 4 year old to comprehend and that I'm too hard on her.  Maybe I am.  Maybe I am not.  Maybe she will understand.  Its my job to teach her.  Maybe she might appreciate the Lost Pizza a little more for dinner if she doesn't have to eat canned tuna.  Is there a better way to teach your child to Give, Love at all cost, and be Thankful for what you have???  .....  and still give them the world on a silver spoon???

"Counting Queen"

Monday, June 6, 2016

Rose successfully completed her first year of school - 3 year old Kindergarten.  She will officially be in PRE-K 4 YEAR OLD next year.  We were so proud of our little "graduate" who got crowned the "counting queen" :-)  Her end of the year program was a major hit; however the not having to go back to school was also a major hit.  She enjoys school about like her momma (not much).  So, with that being said, we are both glad it is summa' time.  Now bring on the pool, the beach, and the sunshine!!!!
