OH HAPPY DAY

WE ARE ENJOYING THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE

I would have to say that Fall is definitely my favorite time of year...  Labor Day / Dove Season kicks it off as the start of a new time.  You can smell the harvest in the air - cotton and dust.  The bayou behind my parent's house is in full bloom of Cat Tails.  It is still incredibly hot outside, but the humidity is settling.  Football season, BBQ, porch sitting, the list goes on and on... all the things of the South you get to actually enjoy in the Fall, that you can't enjoy in the Summer - its too dang HOT...
So, in preparation for FALL and Dove Season, Rose helped her poppy with his dove field of fresh Sunflowers!  We were really about a week late in pictures.  The entire orchard has been bright yellow for weeks now.  There were still a few blooms left for Rose to enjoy.
Its the little things in life that make it so sweet....

where's poppy?

(and a family reunion)

What a fun Friday night at Lake Caroline!!!  So good to see family we havent seen in years!  Everyone finally got to meet Rose, and we finally got to meet some extended cousins!  I think Aunt Glo was surely suprised for her birthday!  Could not have been more planned out... Props to you Laura!

SUMMER FUN AT THE PHILLIPS

4th of July was a blast this year! We spent the day at the Phillips' pool.  Lots of kids, lots of adults, lots of food, and lots of booze.  Rose is such a little trooper! She went full force from about 2:30 that afternoon until we left to go home about 10:30!  She was a little puddle duck in that pool, and I honestly think the kid lives in her own little world.  She is fearless and careless, but so much fun.  I think she loved having kids her age there.  Fascinated by the fireworks and the food - she enjoyed her holiday too!

SUMMER VACATION

I CANT BELIEVE IT IS OVER.... AHHHHHHH!

SO DEPRESSING... WHAT WILL WE LOOK FORWARD TO NOW ???

By far the best family vacation we have had in a really long time!  So much fun to hang out with all the Hardin clan for an entire week.  Vacations are so much different now with kids - not once did I actually relax on the beach, fall asleep listening to the sound of the waves, read a magazine let alone a book, stay up past 10pm, have a romantic dinner with my husband, or sleep in past 7:30 in the morning.  All of those things you can do BEFORE you bring kids on vacation.  Nope, this was much different - instead, I was up each day by 7 (give or take a few minutes - depending on Anne Lowry's "teething???"... Yeah, yeah, yeah Ramey... we all agree...  Teething was the problem. ha ha ha), chasing a toddler around the pool, building sand castles, jumping waves, hauling 1500 things back and forth from one place to another all day, busting my booty on a waterslide, and for what....?  the GLORY of seeing Rose's face - and I wouldnt trade it for the world (maybe the water park incident, but other than that it was perfect)

I really think Rose is truly depressed to be home as well.  She was definitely loving all the attention.  She had cousins galore to keep her fully entertained!  I mean, pancakes for breakfast every day, popsicles, the pool, waterparks, all the junk food she could eat, the beach, the list goes on and on... what kid would wanta come home???

If you thought Mexico was an insane amount of pictures...  get ready...  I was trying to capture my only daughter's first experience at the beach!  And, sadly, I cut more than half of the pictures!

And last but not least... my very favorite picture!

So what now....  an entire year until the next vacation... guess we should start planning it soon... who's with me????
