STARTING THE NEW YEAR OFF RIGHT....

AND THAT INCLUDES MAKING SURE WE MEET OUR INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE AGAIN THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY....

The first month the girls were home from the hospital, Mark and I were beyond O.C.D. about visitors.  We would not allow the twins to go anywhere.  Rose was required to shower and bathe and scrub if she came home from anywhere..... We went through gallon jugs of hand sanitizer.  The cleaning lady was coming like every other day.  We were on top of the germ control....  But like every thing else in life, as time went on we got a little lax.  I took the twins to family events for Christmas.  I allowed Rose to not shower after Sunday School before holding them.  I even let them hide out in the back booth of the Mexican Restaurant one night so we could go to dinner.  We had our first round of RSV antibodies.  I thought the twins were doing fantastic.  BUT, Within one week of letting the girls off lock-down mode - we were hospital bound.  Pneumonia!!!

We spent three nights in the hospital on breathing treatments and steroids before we were allowed to come home.  I thought the NICU was a bad experience - nothing compares to an infant who cant sleep FOR THREE DAYS because she is doped on steroids... - wait...  hold on....  TWO INFANTS.  The first night in the hospital is another one of "those nights" I will always remember....  I spent the day at the hospital with the girls (xrays, steroids, breathing treatments, flu swabs, RSV test, etc...) and was exhausted by the time Mark got there after work.  He ordered a pizza and we prepared for another night on a hospital bed.  HA HA HA... Silly us - there was no need for a bed????  The girls were drugged!!!  No joke.  THEY SCREAMED for 24 straight hours.  NOT KIDDING.  TWENTY-FOUR STRAIGHT HOURS.  When Mark left for work the next morning he just took our pizza home with him to put it in the refrigerator.  OH.  MY.  GOSH.
This made the SECOND WORST DAY OF MY LIFE (second to the Wednesday after delivery when Maryn's lungs collapsed)

They look happy only because Rachael is a fantastic "bouncer"....  Its an illusion...  No one was really happy....
