YOU ROLLED OVER ....

AND MOMMA MISSED IT ...... (insert tears here)  :(

We practiced, and we practiced, and we practiced, and we practiced some more.... but you just couldn't figure out how to get your arms out of the way... so finally after an hour and a half, we gave up and went to bed.  But the next day... WHILE I WAS AT WORK....  you flipped.  MULTIPLE TIMES.  Then I come home... no flipping.  You only roll over on Monday thru Thursday between the hours of 8am and 5pm...  I HAVE YET TO SEE YOU DO IT!  ... so i only have pictures of your "Practice"... bummer....

PUSH... one, two, three, PUSH... (hmmm... where have i heard that chant before???)

You would much rather "scoot" around than roll over.  You can scoot all over the place if you want to, including right off your jungle gym mat ...  not a big fan of rolling over yet...

So.. we decided to play tricks with you...  If Darly has your toy and you want your toy.. then maybe you will ROLL to get it...????  thought?

You actually tried very hard... and came OH SO CLOSE.... It wasn't a bad idea...

But all that pushing and rolling made for one exhausted Rosie and one tired momma...  Thank goodness for porch swings!

LORD HAVE MERCY ON THOSE JAWS!

ANYBODY NOTICE A RESEMBLANCE?

A QUARTER OF A YEAR OLD!!!!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT... ?????

3 MONTH STATS:

  • You weigh about 13 pounds.  You have not been "officially" weighed on the baby scales.
  • Size 1 diapers
  • You SMILE most of the time, but you still have that Serious Side sometimes.  That's the "Hardin" coming out in you!
  • You eat 5 to 6 ounces every 4 hours.  8am, 12noon, 4pm, 8pm.  You usually want more in the morning.
  • You now eat 2 tablespoons of rice cereal before bed time (8pm) and have one "dream feed" about 11pm so that you will sleep through the night
  • You usually sleep from about 9pm - 7am and its GLORIOUS!
  • You have started to enjoy strolling a lot more.  You seem amazed with trees and clouds... I think you just love the outside regardless.
  • You love your big girl bed, but i don't like your big girl bed... I keep putting you back in the bassinet and you keep wanting out.  You sleep better with more room and under that big fan.  I sleep better when your within arms reach...
  • You spent the night away from home for the first time at Dr H and Phyls.  I will spare the blog my heartache.
  • Miss Lizzie calls you "Nosy Rosie" because you always want to be in the action.  If people come to the house - you wake up bug eyed.  If your outside your head never stops moving from side to side - 180 degrees every few seconds.  If your resting on her shoulder and hear the TV or the Dog you immediately lift your head and look around.  You are so ALERT.
  • You can push your head up when you want to....  If your being "NOSY" you can do it every time!
  • It has become morning routine to watch Baby Beethoven or Baby Mozart.  Your favorite is the Bubbles scene.  You talk out loud every time the bubbles twirl.
  • The hair blow dryer is your best friend.  I swear you wake up when you hear it.  If you are fussy all I have to do is put you in the nap nanny and turn on the dryer.  It shuts you instantly!
  • You have the dirtiest fingernails of any baby I have ever seen.  I dunno how they get that way.  They look like you just crawled out of a dirt pile.  You hate to get them cleaned, and you clench your fist when I try.  This goes for the removal of toe jam and hand jam as well.
  • DROOL... Oh My Gosh... you soak every outfit.  Enough said.
  • You have discovered Jewelry.  Its like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
  • You wrinkle your forehead when your in deep thought.  You get that from me.  I have that look.  People think I'm mad but I'm really just in my own little world, so I get your look, and I completely understand your thought process!
  • You have a lazy eyelid.  I also have a lazy eyelid, so I know how annoying that is going to be for you in the future.
  • You are so laid back.  You don't get that from me.  That's all your daddy...  Nothing seems to bother you, as long as your included in the party.
  • You like to watch us eat.  I'm not sure if its because Darly entertains you with her barking and begging for food, or if its because you want so badly to try whatever it is we are eating, or if its because you think we are cool.. but none the less, you eat, you bathe, you watch us eat, then its bedtime. ha ha ha.
  • You are one of very few kids that actually LIKES the church nursery.  Your little eyes light up with all the sounds and children screaming.  I hope that this continues, because your THE only happy child on Sunday Morning.
  • You will sit in your dads lap for extended periods of time and do nothing but face forward, relax, and drool.  In fact, you do this every night.  You have YET to do that with me. If I'm holding you, then you have to be pulling my hair, arching your back, looking around, kicking your feet, etc.  I dunno why you wont just sit when its me, but you don't.
  • You are definitely going to be a Talker.  You have your own language already, and you add new vocabulary to it daily.
  • You like the Coyote and the Roadrunner on Cartoon Network.
  • Miss Lizzie said you laughed OUT LOUD the other day, but i missed it and you have yet to do it again for me to see!
  • We just fall in love with you a little more every day....  We decided you may not be an only child after all.............................

CHEERS TO TWO YEARS!

IT TAKES 2 TO MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK.... SOMETIMES 3 DRINKS IF 2 DOESNT DO THE TRICK!

HA HA HA... VERY FUNNY MARK (MY CARD THIS MORNING)!

25 THINGS THAT WE HAVE CHANGED REALIZED IN THE LAST TWO YEARS:

1.  Without water... plants die.  That includes the two big heavy ferns at the front door that I cant lift! :)
2.  I actually CAN COOK decent food.  He actually CAN WASH the dishes.  Its a give and take relationship.  ha ha
3.  Air conditioner filters need to be changed ALL THE TIME.  And because my dad is OCD about the Air Vents.. we must buy the $20 per month hypoallergenic filters and they are only sold in our size at Lowe's.

4.  I have decided we BOTH absolutely hate to unload the dishwasher.  Thank goodness for Miss Lizzie these days!
5.  I am messier than Mark is.
6.  I am not "suppose" to use the garbage can in the bathroom because it fills up quicker, and then requires him to empty more than one trash can every day.  I am getting better at this...
7.  Its the mans job to fill the car up with gas.  Its also the husbands checkbook that pays for gas.  always.
8.  Mark always has cash.  well, that is until i realize i NEED cash, then Mark has no cash.
9.  He is much more patient than I am.  This is one of his Best Qualities.
10.  I cant recall ever feeding the dog really.  That's his job.
11.  The yard never bothers Mark.  It could be grown up like the secret garden with vines completely covering our house ... and he doesn't seem to notice.
12.  However, in his defense....  The laundry room could be piled a mile high and I'm wearing 3 year old scrubs because mine are all dirty... and i STILL don't notice.
13.  He now uses a minimum of three towels to shave. 1 for the floor, 1 for around the sink, and 1 to wipe his face.  This is due to the fact that NOTHING is more aggravating to me than stumbling into the bathroom first thing in the morning and leaning up against the cabinet to brush my teeth and my nightgown soaks up all the water.  It took two years, but I never get soaked at 6:30am anymore!
14.  Mark is wonderful about replacing things that he uses the last one of... ex) bathroom soap, paper towels, trash bags, detergent, etc... Love this about him!
15.  Every time we need DRANO for the bathroom shower, Mark gets a little upset and depressed because he thinks its stopped up due to his hair loss.  Its kinda cute.
16.  He is not a "blood and guts" kind of guy; however, being a husband and a dad has truly toughened up his stomach.  He no longer gags at the sight of vomit, the smell of poo, or the sound of the mighty "pump"
17.  We both actually enjoy a little Baby Einstein...  Its good therapy.
18.  I don't pick out good looking ties.  At least in Marks opinion, so i quit trying. The same goes for tennis shoes.
19.  Mark is wonderful about washing his hands and wearing his seat belt.  Since i married him, i wash my hands more at home, and i definitely wear my seat belt more often.
20.  He is never going to gain weight.  He will stay the same whether i buy fat free foods or not, so whats the point?  I might as well eat somewhat healthy since he has no dog in this race.
21.  He likes to be asked "how was your day?"  Before i met Mark, I don't think i really asked those kinds of questions like "Are you busy?"  "Are you having a good morning?" "Did anything funny happen to you today?"  "What are you doing after work?"  "is it OK if...?"  "How are you feeling?".  I can honestly say that those little questions make a world of difference in the communication of our marriage.  He has taught me that.
22.  Tird. - (N) a term of endearment meaning I love you.
23.  We both like the same side of the bed.  Every night before Rose it was the same conversation "can i please sleep on that side?" After Rose: i finally gave up.... YES.  TAKE IT.  I JUST WANT TO SLEEP.  So we have officially switched sides.
24.  Mark is a very good teacher.  I am not a very good student.
25.  WE MAKE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN!

CHEERS! Here's to the next two and many more after that! I LOVE YOU!

ROSE'S FIRST COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT!

Junior Auxiliary had a Back To School Bash at the local park in Indianola.  They gave away school supplies including glue sticks, pencils, notebook paper, erasers, rulers, Kleenex, ect.  Our office donated all of the crayons! So, Rose and I spent two hours at the park giving away crayons; however, by the end of the evening....  Rose was much more excited about crowd control at the cookie stand!  (we were really wishing we got assigned to the sonic hot dogs, but we settled for "would you like chocolate or vanilla" and "only take two cookies please")  She had a great time and was in total amazement at all of the children.  Lots of them were my patients who all knew I was gone for 2 months having a baby; therefore, Rose got touched A LOT... hence the bottle of INFECTIGUARD that we bathed in repeatedly throughout the project.  It was a nice outing, and she was one popular chick!

The ROAD To ROSE

It Took a LONG TIRING 9 MONTHS... BUT YOU WE MADE IT!!!!

In the beginning...
I was...
  • Exhausted... all the time.  Every mom said that would go away once I hit the second trimester, but it did not.  I slept, and slept, and slept my life away....  the tired thing got better by about 22 weeks, but it never fully left me.
  • NEVER SICK.  you may have cursed me with amnesia but you did not make me feel bad.  I threw up a total of 3 times the entire pregnancy, and they were all within 2 days. Looking back, I truly think I ate something, and that I had a stomach bug.  At the time I blamed it on pregnancy because, well, that's just what I blamed everything on...
  • I DESPISED MEAT.  The Smell of meat, the Look of meat, the Thought of meat, made me want to gag! I did not eat a bite of meat the entire pregnancy.... YUCK! (but i eat it now :))
  • ACNE was terrible, I think you wanted to make me look as awful as possible those 9 months.  People always talk about the pregnancy "GLOW"... well, I was not blessed with that (Thank you Rose).  I always had the pregnancy pimple.  Its much different than the glow.
  • Swelling was never a problem! I did not swell until the Sunday before I had you.  I woke up and my ring finger was BLUE! I could not get my wedding bands off at all! I gained 5 pounds of fluid in 4 days.  It took olive oil, a bucket of ice water, lotion, and prayer through the entire church sermon before i finally got my band off my finger.  That was painful....
  • I was a serious Nester.  I "wanted" to clean out closets, rearrange furniture, buy curtains, build a fence, redo the bathroom, dust every day, vacuum, install new fans, however; the Tired thing i mentioned before overtook my nesting urges....
  • About week 30 you discovered this nerve that ran down my left leg.  You would position yourself perfectly on it, and it would feel as if someone sent an electrical shock to my knee.  I couldn't walk, and it would knock the breath out of me.  I would have to push my belly and pop my hips to get you off of it.  I'm pretty sure you did permanent damage to the nerve because my left leg still catches when I stand sometimes.
  • Lower Back Pains came into play during the third trimester.  I went to see a chiropractor once a week to realign my back.  (don't tell papa).  It felt better for about 2 days then I was ready to go back to see him.  That instantly went away at week 37 when you flipped into the "GO" position and turned head down.  I felt like a new person.
  • I knew you were going to have long legs from the first time i felt you kick.  I knew even more so that you were going to have HUGE feet!  You would stand straight up on my bladder and jump... like a trampoline....  I could just imagine you screaming "lets get this party started" while momma pees all over herself running for the bathroom.  Its all games to you!
  • Always easy when I needed you to be.  During the second trimester in the month of February, Khaki had open heart surgery, and Phyl had a kidney transplant (all within 48 hours of each other)... talk about a round of Prozac for mom! I have to admit that during the entire month of Feb, this pregnancy gave me no trouble.  You were an angel.  You hardly kicked.  Nothing made me nauseous.  I slept great (even on a hospital bed).  My back did not hurt.  It was like your first gift to me.  I will always appreciate how wonderful you were that month.
  • Sweets... um.. not so much.  I was never a big sweet eater the entire pregnancy, but especially not in the first and second trimester.  All I really wanted to eat was fruits and vegetables and BREAD and POTATOES.  LOTS of carbs.... all the better for packing on those baby pounds!
  • Weight Gain... since your dying to know... I had gained 24 pounds on May 4th at my Dr. visit, and by May 8th when i checked into the hospital.... I was plus 5 pounds of fluid. SWOLLEN.  My hands hurt.  My feet hurt.  My entire body felt like a cantelope! So.... Total gain of 29 pounds from start to finish!
